Bake Day Friday...Festive Gingerbread Shapes!!

Hi Guys and Welcome to Day 15 of the Christmas Blog, I hope you our all having a really nice day!! I can't believe next Wednesday it will be Christmas Day, it's mad how quick the year has flown in. I hope all you guys have nice plans for the weekend...is anyone going to be doing some last minute shopping?? I defiantly won't be...I'm done!! All that's left for me to do is wrap the last few gifts and give them to my friends and family.  Back to today's blog, today it's Bake Day Friday woohoo...and I'm going to be sharing with all of you my Festive Gingerbread Recipe...below I will be leaving a step by step guide including what you are going to need.

So first up is a list of Ingrediants, then the Icing/Decorations and what Utensils you are going to need:

INGREDIANTS
250g / 8oz Plain Flour
75g / 3oz Butter, softened
75g / 3oz Brown Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
50g / 2oz Golden Syrup
1 Egg Yolk
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger

ICING/DECORATION
Icing Sugar
Red Food Colorant
Bright Writing Icing (Green, Red, Blue & Yellow)

UTENCILS
Gingerbread Cutters (mine are from Ikea)
Baking Sheets (Grease Proof Paper)
Bowl and Wooden spoon
a wire tray for cooling
Tray
Weighing Scale
Electric Whisk (Optional)

Step 1Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy

Step 2: Next add bicarbonate of soda, golden syrup and egg yolk and stir well.

Step 3: Then sift the flour and spices into the bowl and mix with a wooden spoon (Electric Whisk) until well combined.

Step 4: Shape into a ball and knead lightly on a work surface until nice and smooth.

Step 5: Then wrap and chill for about 30 minutes before using, I decided to wrap mine in some cling flim.

Step 6: Next thinly roll out the dough.

Step 7: Then use your gingerbread cutters to cut out the shapes.

Step 8Place them on lightly greased baking sheets (Grease Proof Paper), leaving a space between each of them.

Step 9: Then bake at 180°C/350°F/Gas 4 for about 10-12 minutes until slightly risen and golden in colour.

Step 10Transfer to a wire tray to cool.

Step 11: Next on to the Icing/Decorating of the Gingerbread Shapes. As I want to keep them looking really festive, I decided to mix some icing sugar with water to create a White Icing and then I mixed some Red Food Colourant to the icing to create a Red Icing.

Step 12: Then it's time to start icing/decorating your Gingerbread Shapes.

And here is my Festive Batch of Gingerbread Shapes....
